The meaning of all the deaths in HP:

James and Lily: To establish the story line as well as to show orphans of war.

Cedric Diggory: To show Voldemort's mercilessness.

Sirius Black: To show Harry's lack of guidance/parental figures.

Albus Dumbledore: To show the death of a great leader can't stop a war.

Hedwig: To show the end of Harry's childhood.

Mad Eye: To show the death of a solider.

Dobby: To show even the smallest of creatures can die a Hero's death.

Fred Weasley: To show that some deaths you just can't get over. And that's okay.

Tonks and Remus Lupin: To reestablish orphans of war.

Colin Creevey: To show that the good die young, even when they aren't supposed to.

Severus Snape: To show that you can always change your ways. Always.

it’s all coming back to me now.

I was checking my email when I came across an old email from my ex. It was some forwarded thing that I forgot to delete. Anyways, since I wasn’t doing anything, I copied one of the email address he forwarded the email to and searched on Facebook using it. It took me to his bestfriend’s page. I scrolled down, and guess what I found? His wedding pictures. With a date. June 17, 2011.

I specifically remember that date because it was the day before my college friend’s wedding and it was the day I went home.

I guess I wasn’t so sad nor nostalgic that day.

Going back to my story, after a glimpse of the picture of him beaming with his bride, I felt the usual tingling sensation. I was about to cry. I didn’t know he still had this effect on me. I thought I’ve already gotten past the stage where I would cry because of him. That feeling of lost love, of betrayal, of hurt, of missed opportunities came back to me once again.

One other thing though, I’m not sure if I’m crying because I was hoping it was me he married, or because he’s now happily married and I’m still unattached. I never realize there really is a competition between exes, on who gets over whom sooner, until I saw that picture. I can’t even bear to open that same page again. :(

After several months, here I am, still crying over Harry Potter. :(

something worth knowing :)

This is a repost. not sure if it’s still applicable these days though

In 1950, General Motors condensed the sounds of car trouble into seven types:

  • The Rattle. A series of hard, sharp sounds in rapid succession, like a hard object being shaken around in a metal container. This noise usually indicates a loose or broken part striking against another.
  • The Thump. A dull sound, generally made when a soft part strikes against a hard part. An example is the noise made by a deflated tire on the road.
  •  The Squeak. A sharp, shrill, piercing noise, generally made by two dry metal parts rubbing together. The sound may be sharp and erratic, or drawn out — a squeal. Lack of lubrication causes many squeaks.
  • The Grind. This is a continuous crushing sound like a part being crushed between two revolving parts. Such a sound might come from the transmission.
  • The Knock. This is a sharper and more distinct sound than a thump. It’s generally associated with a loose rod or crankshaft bearing. (Not to be confused with the “knock” or ping of a laboring engine.)
  • The Scrape. A grating or harsh rubbing sound, often made by two pieces of material rubbing together. The sound of a dragging brake could be described as a scrape.
  •  The Hiss. This is like escaping air or steam or the sound of water on a hot metal part.

The idea was to simplify conversations between mechanics and customers. “Besides telling what the noise is, the driver is expected to report where it comes from and when it happened,” explained Popular Science. “With this report, the mechanic has a good start toward learning why it happened.”
